Memorial Gift

The memorial and commemorative opportunities that the Leila Arboretum Society offers are a great way to keep the memory of a special person or a special time around for generations to come.
Whether it’s a brick commemorating a wedding or a tree in honor of a loved one, the Leila Arboretum Society offers many opportunities to keep your memories alive.

Where Your Gifts Will Be Placed

In 1922, Leila Y. Post Montgomery donated the 72-acre Leila Arboretum to the City of Battle Creek, MI. More than half a century later the Leila Arboretum Society was formed to restore the historic 72-acre Leila Arboretum. Over the years the Society’s focus and energy have stretched out beyond the Arboretum’s gates into the community of Battle Creek. Your donations will not only benefit the Leila Arboretum itself but also help to beautify the Battle Creek community

Tribute Opportunities

Engraved Bricks — $100 – $900 each

An engraved brick allows you the opportunity to commemorate many different things, such as your family name, a special achievement, or the life of a loved one. Each engraved brick will be placed around the historic cupola located in the center of the one-of-a-kind Kaleidoscope Garden next to the Leila Arboretum.

Each brick you purchase serves as a permanent acknowledgment of your support for children, the Kaleidoscope Garden and all that Leila Arboretum Society does for this community.

Tree — $500 and up

By donating a tree you are not only helping to beautify the Arboretum and surrounding areas but are also planting a living tribute to a loved one that will grow on for many generations to enjoy. Each tree will be marked with a tag recognizing the individual for whom the tree is dedicated.

Teakwood Bench — $3000

Our benches are located throughout the arboretum in such places as the Peace Labyrinth, the Miss Iva Doty Native Flower Garden, and our new Kaleidoscope Garden. Each bench allows visitors a place to sit and reflect while taking in the beautiful scenery of the Leila Arboretum. A permanent engraved brass name plaque will be affixed to the bench with the name of the individual being honored.
